According the FBI auto theft has hit a low point in its numbers. In fact, as of 2011 the crime statistics for car thefts were at their lowest rate in more than 40 years. Law enforcement also bates thieves with ‘bate cars’ implanted with laptops and other tracking technologies so that officers can track down the bate cars along with the thieves that steal them.
